Steps to apply for Canada Express Entry

To apply for Express Entry

Step 1: Create your online profile

Applicants for permanent residence across 347 occupations such as (Management & Financial Services; Engineering, Information Technology & Sciences; Health Occupations; Skilled Trades) who meet minimum entry criteria, need submit their profile showing their interest to the Express Entry Pool.  Qualifications include age, education, language proficiencies, work experience and other factors. 

The profiles are ranked under a Comprehensive Ranking System which is used to measure their human capital contribution to Canada. 

Applicants who hasn’t gotten any job offers or haven’t been nominated by a province is also required to submit an employment profile with the Canada Job Bank.

Step 2: Receive your invitation to apply for permanent residence

Canadian employers who cannot hire Canadians are encouraged to provide a job offer to candidates of their choice in the Express Entry Pool.  Applicants who have been offered jobs or who have been nominated by a province with job are ranked over others without offers or nominations.

The profiles of all applicants in the pool will be assessed against one another.  The highest ranked applicants from among those a) who has been offered a job by a Canadian employer, b) who has been nominated by a province and c) who have not been offered a job will be invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.  Candidates who receives this invitation is required to submit a full application within 60-days.  Invitations are issued periodically throughout the year.

Applicants and their dependants who are successful will be processed within 6-months. 

If you do not receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence

If a candidate did not receive an invitation, the profile remains in the Express Entry Pool for 12 months.  After that, applicants who meet the requirements may re-submit a new profile.
